Hi

It's the usual reminder / update of our market whereabouts this coming weekend.  I just hope this incessant rain and wind will stop and the outdoor markets can go ahead successfully.  I can live with digging the thermals out but the wind ............. So hopefully, it's Rhiwbina on Friday, Usk on Sat and Riverside on Sunday with our usual range of fresh meat, sausages, faggots and, I hope, pies.    As always local deliveries and collections from the farm by arrangement.

The farms are WET -  it is amazing the difference in the volume of rain falling on  Penrhiw than on Cefn Coed / Fforest.   John and Graham have been working on Fforest in boiler suits; me at Penrhiw in full waterproofs and still getting wet.  Something to do with altitude and a west facing hill I think !   Cows are indoors at Penrhiw and the ewe lambs have gone to Fforest for a winter holiday - there is some lovely grass and turnips there to keep them happy all winter.

Penrhiw rams are at last enjoying themselves - next doors are still in jail !

Sadly, John's father passed away last week.  He was 89 and had enjoyed good health and mobility until the last 2 years.  He will be missed - he was well known in the local farming community.

Finally we have promised to promote the SE Wales Slow Food movement's November event on Sunday 29th at Bar 44 Cardiff.  They are holding a talk / dinner to celebrate Great British Game week.  Full details at http://bit.ly/sfgbgw
